500-Hour Yoga Teacher Training

The 500-hour full certificate is a combination of the 200-hour and 300-hour course.

Some students take the whole 500-hours as a continuous immersive study program. It spans across 26 weekend intensives for about 18 months. The course allows plenty of scope to work at your own pace.

Teaching yoga is so much more than teaching postures and we encourage trainees to have the view of a lifelong studentship with the yogic tradition and its priceless bodies of wisdom. Shantarasa intentionally offers such in depth trainings to encourage this kind of love for the study and dedication to transpersonal growth and practice.

Many people today are hungry for the understanding yoga affords them. We view it as important to equip teachers with the depth to meet and assist this genuine inquiry in students of yoga.

The 500-hour training combines the curriculum of both the 200-hour and 300-hour courses. For information on the course curriculum, please refer to the individual course page for each.

The course facilitators are a husband and wife team, Sadhana and Keval Pezet.

Sadhana is a specialist in hatha yoga and asana (postures), pranayama, yoga nidra, meditation, yoga chikitsa (yoga therapy) and teacher with 50 years of experience. She is also a qualified Transpersonal therapist and trainer. What she brings to the trainings is an incredible depth of knowledge that spans the practical, therapeutic and the philosophical aspects of the Shantarasa Traditional Yoga programs. She is very dedicated to preserving the traditional forms as yoga goes through a phase of immense change in our contemporary speres of yoga practice. Postural yoga is not a full picture, without the full context postures have little if any of their intended benefit and power. Sadhana’s classes give an exceptional experience of what yoga practice can truly give.

Keval is our resident scholar. He brings decades of study in Yogic philosophy, he communicates the practical wisdom of the yogic traditions in ways that are accessible, relevant, infectious, and translatable into our day to day meeting with life. He has taught yogic philosophy, mantra and meditation globally for nearly 50 years.

Both received personal guidance and teaching from an incredible line of South Indian Siddhas. Their study has been continuous to this day, having dedicated immense amounts of time during countless extended periods of time in India to study with Yoga Adepts, Hatha Yoga Achayas, Yoga Therapists, Ayurvedic Vaidyas, and Vedic and Sanskrit scholars.

These two therefore instruct a training that carries rare depth and skill as they deliver the content of this pure gem of a program.

NOTE: Shantarasa is offering an extension to this program with added curriculum and hours- The Foundations in Yoga Chikitsa (Therapy). It will be offered accross 4 weekend intensives giving 70-hours of additional training and professional development. To the enrollees in the 500-hour training this addition will be offered at a significantly reduced fee.
