Yoga of Breath Teacher Training
Shantarasa Yoga Darshana offers this specialised training in the Yogic science and practice of breath, breathwork and pranayama to educate trained yoga teachers as well as those who facilitate meditation and health and wellbeing programs.
It would be highly beneficial to carry a certificate in Yoga Teaching but we recognise the powerful importance in correct and guided breathing practices in other practices such as meditation and health and wellbeing contexts and so extend this training to other dedicated well-being facilitators.
In Person Trainings to engage with the practical aspects of breath-work and pranayama
Well guided and skilful training in yogic breath-work and pranayama is essential. All of life and all the functions of the body and mind are affected by the quality of breathing. Knowledge of this relationship along with all of its intricacies and nuances is essential to ensure positive outcomes. The breath at the physical level often needs correction in most individuals. Breath rhythm, volume and lung function requires restoration - this is the first focus of yogic breath work. A restored capacity to breathe gives immediate benefit to other physiological functions at the level of organs, systems and cells. Mental state is
also benefited.
“As is the breath so is the mind, as is the mind so is the breath”.
Stress is the major external factor that disturbs breath. The effects of ongoing and excessive stress generates poor function and disturbance at the physiological and mental levels. Skilful breathing techniques are an antidote to stress of all kinds. Breath and energy equally have a relationship. Yogic science understands the direct relationship between breathing and energy. This is the yogic science of prana (life force). This training will start with the physical dimension of breathing and then extend to the subtle expression of breath or prana. Prana rides the breath. Breath work and pranayama gives greater access to more
potent degrees of vitality and energy. Prana is essential in healing, it is essential for clarity and focus, it is essential in meeting our daily needs and challenges. Cultivation of energy (prana) gives us the ability to access higher levels of intelligence and awaken sleeping potentials of the mind.
Pranayama heals the mind. The all levels of sub conscious habitual forces are mitigated through skillful and individually tailored pranayama practice. The study of pranayama requires the study of the mind and prana. This course will explore the yogic understanding of both to better understand and respect the power of breath and pranayama practices.
